72ND ANNUAL WEST SALEM CHOWDER THIS SATURDAY
The 72nd annual West Salem Chowder and Homecoming is Saturday. The parade line up starts at 8:30 and the parade begins at 9:30 with retired teachers and long time West Salem residents, George & Martha Calhoun serving as Parade Marshals. Dustin Leek, Pastor of the West Salem First Christian Church was be the parade emcee.
Vendors will be set up and plenty of food will be available with the Shelter House serving beginning at 11am. The menu includes; chowder by the bowl, burgers, hotdogs, potato salad, desserts and drink. Bulk sales start at 10:30am and buckets will be provided. Price is $25 per gallon and signs will be posted at turns.
1. Turn South off of Church St onto ALBION ST.
2. Follow to WILLIAM ST turn LEFT.
3. Stay on WILLIAM ST all the way to S.MAIN ST
4. Turn LEFT on S. MAIN head up to the square.
5. BULK LINE starts on the south side of the square.
Those attending the chowder have been asked to please keep South Broadway open and be courteous of people’s driveways.
Entertainment will be provided by the local country & rock band, Midnight Express featuring Mike and David Glover and Jared Hasewinkle from the Edwards County area. The group will perform on the West Salem Square stage from 11am to 1pm. Entertainment is sponsored by Carter Rentals and Greathouse Storm Shelters & Construction.
