White County Sheriff’s authorities have released details an incident that took place at the White County Fair’s Demolition Derby on Saturday, August 10th. The altercation occurred shortly after 7 pm following the conclusion of the power wheels derby for youngsters.
During the incident, Jeff Nelson of Crossville was observed getting very close to another individual and yelling at them. Initially perceived as playful by officers, the situation escalated when Nelson began yelling at Sheriff Weiss upon their intervention. When questioned about his alcohol consumption, Nelson became agitated and started causing a disturbance, leading to the Fair Board President filing a complaint against him.
Nelson’s behavior continued to be confrontational, with him refusing to provide identification and making aggressive statements towards law enforcement. He was eventually arrested, taken off the fairgrounds, and booked into the White County Jail. Charges against Nelson include Criminal Trespass to State Supported Land and Obstructing Identification.
After being held until late Saturday night, Nelson was released with a Notice to Appear.
