FAIRFIELD CITY WATER DEPARTMENT FLUSHING WATER LINES

By Mark Wells Oct 14, 2024 | 5:59 AM

Between today (Monday) and Friday, The City of Fairfield Water Department will open fire hydrants through the City.  This is done each Spring and Fall to test hydrants and help keep the water supply clean and pure.  While flushing the water lines, you may notice that your water is temporarily discolored and while the flushing occurs, residents may experience a dip in water pressure.  If your water is discolored, it will still be safe to drink.  City officials say to check for discoloration in the water before doing laundry or similar activities.  If you have any questions, call 618-842-7015 or 618-842-5016.  The flushing schedule is listed below:

MONDAY:  1st Ward – Every hydrant East of 1st Street.

TUESDAY: 2nd Ward – Every hydrant North of Elm between 1st and 7th Street

WEDNESDAY: 3rd Ward – Every hydrant South of Elm between 1st and 7th Street

THURSDAY: 4th Ward – Every hydrant West of 7th Street stopping at Kincaid’s

FRIDAY:  Outlying areas being Walmart, Petroleum Blvd, Brach Oaks, HWY 45 South, HWY 15 East to City’s Filtration Plant.
