Mary Kathryn “Katy” Black

black88-year-old Fairfield resident, Mary Kathryn “Katy” Black died at 3:31 a.m. Monday, April 18 at Way-Fair Restorium in Fairfield.  Retired from L.J. Keith, she had been the first woman purchasing agent in the wholesale lumber business in the State of Illinois.

Survivors include a son, Jeffrey Harlan Black of Fairfield; three daughters, Jan (Steve) Catt of Vincennes, IN, Mary Jo (Jack) Tribe of Green Bay WI and Jerilee Hopkins of Mt. Vernon, IL; two sisters, Martha Lou Phillips of Fairfield and Shirley Bell of Fairfield; a brother, Jim (Helen) Book of Batavia, IL; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one on the way.

Funeral services for Mary Kathryn “Katy” Black will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 22 at Nale’s Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial at a later date.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. Friday, April 22 until the time of service at Nale’s Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Memorials may be made to the Scranton Memorial Cancer Fund or L.A.C.E. at the First Christian Church and will be accepted at Nale’s Funeral Home in Fairfield.
