Daniel Gene Reed

reed73-year-old Macedonia, Ill. resident, Daniel Gene Reed died at 8:24 a.m. Tuesday, May 10 at his home.  A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was an electrician and had been employed by Mobil Oil Co. He had formerly owned and operated Reed’s Texaco Station in Crossville, Ill.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Reed of Macedonia; two daughters, Konnie Harrington of Crossville and Belle McCartney and husband Perry of Crossville; a brother, Donald Glenn Reed and wife Donna of Princeton, Ky.; two sisters, Peggy Downen and husband Paul “Chig” Downen of Freeburg, Ill. and Rebecca Conner and husband Kenny of Carmi; four grandchildren, Charles Daniel, Ashley, Brooke and Caleb and five great-grandchildren; Landen, Andi, Adie, Nolen and Wyatt.

A memorial service for Daniel Gene Reed will be 2 p.m. Sunday, May 22 at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro.

Visitation will be 12 noon Sunday, May 22 until the time of service at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro.

As per Daniel’s wishes, his ashes will be scattered on the family farm in a private service.

Memorials may be made to the Brownsville School and will be accepted at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro, which is in charge of all the arrangements.
