Dr. Don D. Doty – Starkville, Miss.

Dr. Don D. Doty, 91, of Starkville, MS, died on November 16, 2016 at OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville, MS.  Dr. Doty received his early education in the public schools of Illinois.  Later he earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Bradley University.  After several years in business he returned to academia and earned a PhD in Economics at the University of Arkansas.  In 1987 he retired as Emeritus Professor of Economics, Mississippi State University.

He was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ.  A veteran of both World War II and the Korean War, he served with the 315th Troop Carrier Wing in the Korean Theater.  A member of the American Legion for more than 70 years, he also held membership in a number of professional and research-oriented organizations.

Dr. Doty is survived by his wife, Mercede Tabor Doty; daughter, Cynthia Wall and husband, William Wall; two grandsons, Andrew Wall and wife, Alice, and Matthew Wall and wife, Tricia; and six great grandchildren, Parker Wall, Ryan Wall, Virginia Wall, Hutton Wall, Madeline Wall and Bronson Wall all of Nashville, TN; step-daughter, Sandra Gladney and husband Steve; and step-son, Chip Tabor and wife Lisa.

Visitation for Dr. Don D. Doty is scheduled for Friday, November 18, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS.

Graveside services are scheduled for Sunday, November 20, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Moravian Cemetery in West Salem, Illinois.
