James “Jimmy” Hering

JamesHeringObitPic94-year-old James “Jimmy” Hering of Albion died on Monday, April 11 at his home. He spent his entire married life operating a farm on the Red Top Road. He was a member of the Browns Methodist Church, and was very active in the church. He had served as Road Commissioner for several years. He had also operated the Hering Hen Haven, a 10,000 chicken farm and assisted at many community chowders.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; children: Ross (Alice) of Bone Gap, Anita (Dick) Hawkins of Brownsburg, Indiana, Jeanette (Eldon) Broster of Chatham, Illinois, Tom of Albion, and Steve (LeeAnn) of Browns; 12 grandchildren: Brett Hering, Dionne Kennedy, Carissa Troyer, Daniel Hawkins, Lori Fulks, Linda Dafoe, Layna Goodin, Julie VanDerSlik, Jennifer Aper, Renee Scannell, Sheila Hering, and Eric Hering; 21 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Emma Searby of Lincoln, Illinois and Helen Booth of St. Petersburg, Florida; and a brother, Earl of Ft. Myers, Florida.

Funeral services for James (Jimmy) Hering will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016  at Ingram Funeral Home in Albion with burial to follow at Graceland Cemetery in Albion.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 13 at the Ingram Funeral Home in Albion.

Memorials may be made to the Browns United Methodist Church, the Edwards County Senior Center or Celtic Hospice and will be accepted at the Ingram Funeral Home in Albion.
