Carroll Freeland, Sims

Carroll Freeland obit pic73 year-old Sims resident, Carroll Freeland, died at 11:15pm, Thursday, Nov. 3rd, at the Sitemen Cancer Center in St. Louis.  He had been a farmer. After retirement, he participated in the operation of his family-owned strawberry and vegetable farm.  Carroll was a 14 year member of the Sims Village board.  His hobbies included hunting, fishing and watching NSU Womens College Basketball.  He was of Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; two daughters Tammy (Wayne) Thomason of Sims, and LeAnn (John) Freeland-Curry of Coral Gables, FL.; one son Jimmy of Sims; three  sisters Aileen MacDonald of Nevada, Mary Helen (Norman) Wells of Iowa and Betty (Gene) Guinn of Virginia; mother-in-law Marian Weedman of Fairfield; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 9th from 5-7 p.m. at Johnson and Vaughn funeral home in Fairfield. Per Carroll’s wishes, the body will be cremated with internment of ashes at a later date.

The Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
