George Franklin “Frank” Elliott – Carmi

Frank Elliott pic2George Franklin “Frank” Elliott, Sr., 80, of Carmi, Illinois, died Sunday, November 5, 2016, at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. Frank was retired from the United States Postal Service where he served as Supervisor of Postal Operations in Carmi. He was a member of the New Beginnings Church of God in Carmi, where he utilized his woodworking skills in designing the new church building, as well as constructing the decorative crosses, and framing the stained glass windows used in the new sanctuary. He was well known in the area as a hunter safety instructor for over 30 years in association with the White County 4-H of which he was honored with the award of “Friend of 4-H”.

Frank was an avid woodworker and rifle builder. He was a champion marksman in offhand muzzleloader through the National Muzzleloading Rifle Association.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Elliott; son G. Frank Elliott, Jr. and his wife Denise, all of Carmi; sister Mary Lou Veatch Marrs of Prescott, Arizona; grandchildren Kendan (Meg) Elliott, Jacob (Ashley) Elliott, Joni (Aaron) Holmes; great grandchildren Landen, Addison, and Stella.

In keeping with Frank’s wishes, his remains were cremated.

Visitation and memorial service are Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi. Visitation is at 3 pm and continues until memorial service at 5 pm. Burial at a later time will be in Kingdom Cemetery.
