Hershel D. Spruell, Mt. Carmel

Hershel D. Spruell, 91, of Mt. Carmel, passed away Friday, April 14, at Meadowood Nursing Home in Grayville.  Hershel, an avid horseman and served his county in the U.S. Army during WW II and was a lifetime member of VFW and American Legion. He worked for the State of Illinois in Forestry.

He is survived by his children, Jeff, and wife Sheri Spruell, Rhonda J. Skees-Baker and husband Bob Baker, and Connie and her husband John Shain; five grandchildren, Natalie (Greg) Wilkinson, Jana (Beau) Hadra, Elliott (Laura Dudoit) Spruell, Cody Skees, and Madison (Greg) Maves; great grandchildren Triston and Chase Wilkinson, Jonathon Bader, Karis and Bode Hadra, Lyla and Olivia Maves; Adalyah, Ariel and Yehoshua Dudoit; niece Lynette Lustfeldt and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Hershel D. Spruell will be Monday, April 17, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Short Funeral Home in Mt. Carmel. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, April 18, at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Meadowood Nursing Home, in Grayville, or Wabash General Hospital in Mt. Carmel, to purchase patient reclining chairs.
