Dwain O. Massie – Albion

98-year-old Albion resident, Dwain O. Massie died at 8:20 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20 at Premier Healthcare of New Harmony, Indiana.  A veteran of the U.S. Army from 1940 – 1946, he had been in the banking business for over 70 years, working at Citizens National Bank in Albion.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Rotary Club, Edwards County Historical Society and the Tri-State Historical Society and the Town & Country Card Club.  He was also a former treasurer for the City of Albion.

Survivors include two daughters, Lynn-Massie Southerland and husband Neil Albion and Lesa and husband James “Chip” Bennett of Glen Ellyn, Ill; a son, Peter and wife Emy Leung of Overland Park, KS;  four grandsons and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Dwain O. Massie will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25 at the First United Methodist Church in Albion with burial in Graceland Cemetery with full military rites provided by the American Legion Post 9590 and VFW Post 8222.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 24, at the First United Methodist Church in Albion.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Edwards County Senior Citizens Center and will be accepted at the church or Nale’s Funeral Home in Albion, which is in charge of all the arrangements.
