Phillip E. Williams – Fairfield

Phillip E. Williams, 79, of Fairfield, died at 2:29am on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at the Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro, IL. He had been a chemical salesman for years. Phil was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, and the University of Illinois Fighting Illini. He had been a lifelong fan of the Fairfield Mules where he ran the clock for the football games for 25 years and had been a scorekeeper for over 30 years. He was in the High School Hall of Fame for Scorekeepers. Phil had been on the WADI board of directors for 28 years and served one term as an city alderman from 2007-2011.

Survivors include in wife Joyce, three daughters Kim Ellis, Kelly (Matt) Vaughn, and Kristi (Tim) Hutcheson all of Fairfield, eight grandchildren Jeremy (Lori) Ellis, Morgan Williams, Hilary (Cody Yarnell) Vaughn, Sydney Vaughn, Logan and Alec Vaughn, Tyler Hutcheson and Baylee Hutcheson, and four great grandchildren Mabry and Dalanie Ellis, Kyston Yarnell and Jaxden Phillip Kevin Williams, and one daughter-in-law Sheila Williams of Fairfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Kevin Williams, one sister Kay, and one son-in-law Jeff Ellis.

Funeral services for Phil Williams will be at 11am on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7pm on Tuesday, January 9th at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the WADI Food Pantry or the FCHS Athletic Dept. with donations going toward the press box.  Condolences can be left for the family at www.facebook.com/johnsonvaughnfuneralhome
