71-year-old former Albion resident, Roger T. Williams of Peoria, Ill. died on July 2, 2014 at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Peoria. A U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War, he worked for Komatsu Industries in Peoria for 30 years. He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Peoria; and had served as Post Commander of the Peter W. Sommer Post 814 VFW in Peoria.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Williams of Peoria; two daughters, Jacqueline Merriam of Raeford, NC and Nancy and husband Don Freeman of Rowlett, TX; a brother, Dick L. and wife Jane Williams of Peoria; three sisters, Nancy Tassos of Winter Park, FL, Jane Johnson of Old Saybrook CT and Virginia and husband Douglas Boelhouwer of Dillsburg, PA; four grandchildren, Nathan and Gabriele Grace Freeman, Kandas and Hannah Merriam.
A joint memorial service with his sister, Bettye Anderson will be 2 p.m. Sunday, May 27 at Nale’s Funeral Home in Albion.
A graveside service will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Albion with full military honors.
Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project and will be accepted at Nale’s Funeral Home in Albion.
