Sarah Marvelle Billington passed away on January 28, 2019. She was a longtime homemaker who had resided in Fairfield for the past sixty years. She was born in Edgewood, Illinois on March 20, 1932, to Donah and Lola (Pemberton) Hout, and was raised in Flora.
She was widowed by Eldon Smothers of Flora, Robert Croughan of Flora, and Harry Billington of Fairfield. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Mike Billington of Fairfield; a brother, Bob Hout of Effingham, and a sister, Marilyn Reagan of New Mexico.
She is survived by two sisters, Patsy Dyer of Effingham and Barbara King of Widefield, Colorado; her daughter, Patsy (Smothers) Oswald and her husband, Tom of Fresno, California; her son, Bobby Croughan and his wife, Mi Joung of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her daughter-in-law, Patty Billington of Fairfield, and a stepson, Charlie Billington of Cisne. Grandchildren Emily Oswald, Los Angeles, California; Michael Oswald, Fresno, California; Nathan Croughan, Los Angeles, California; Chris Billington, Geff; Terra Milner, Geff, and Mikey Billington, Fairfield. She is also survived by 9 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Marvelle would want a special recognition to her grandson, Mikey, for all the support he gave her over the years.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 9 at 11:00 a.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery in Fairfield.
