Randy Gunther – McLeansboro

62-year-old McLeansboro resident Randy Gunther died at 8:25 a.m. Saturday (February 16) at his residence. He was born on May 30, 1956, in Princeton, Kentucky, to Bill Gunther and Myrtle (Cooper) Gunther. He married Paula Sinks on August 25, 1985, in Broughton, Illinois, and she survives.

He was a roofer, employed by Labor Union 1197, and he loved to hunt, fish, spend time with his family, and help his neighbors. He was also a member of A.F. & A.M. Polk Lodge 137 in McLeansboro.

Randy Gunther is survived by his wife, Paula of Broughton; daughters Rachel (husband Bill Gire) Essary of Carmi and Billie (Jed) Patton of Paoli, Indiana; grandsons David (Kim) Johnson and Randall (wife Lachrisha) Essary, both of Carmi; a great-grandchild Kaia Johnson; brothers Billy (Cheryl) of Albany, Ohio, Jimmy (Betty) of Nebo, Kentucky, Jerry (Audry) of Ridgeway, Rick (Ruth) of Norris City, Tody (Rhonda) of McLeansboro, and Butch (Ginger) of Golconda; and a sister Faye Gunther of Broughton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Charles and JR, and sister Barbara Ann.

Visitation for Randy Gunther will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday (February 20) at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with Masonic Rites provided. Brother Dave Aydt will officiate. Burial will be at Smith Cemetery, west of Dale.
