96-year-old Ruth Crawford of Carmi, died Sunday, February 24 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Evansville, Indiana. She was born October 23, 1922, in East St. Louis, Illinois, the daughter of Oscar and Emma Fritz. She married Karlyn Crawford on October 18, 1940, and he preceded her in death on August 11, 2003. They were married for 62 years.
Ruth worked many years in Carmi as a retail clerk in women’s apparel. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carmi. Watching golf and horse races were among some of her favorite pastimes.
Survivors include daughter Marilyn (Charles) Woodstock of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters; and one brother.
Graveside services will be at 10 am, Wednesday, February 27 at Kuykendall Cemetery near Carmi. Those wishing to attend should be at the cemetery by 10 a.m.
