Kenneth O’Neil New – Fairfield

92 year old Fairfield resident, Kenneth O’Neil New passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Aperion Care in Fairfield, Illinois.

Kenneth was born September 8, 1926 in Oilton, Oklahoma. He was the son George Harrison New and Olive Maxine (Carney) New. He married Ann Riley on August 28, 1981 and she survives. As a young man, Kenneth was baptized in to the Baptist faith in Bowlegs, Oklahoma. Kenneth was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was a self-employed welder in the oil and gas industry for many years. After retiring from the oil industry, he and his wife, Ann, owned and operated the New Complex consisting of several rental properties in the Fairfield area.

Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Ann; his beloved children, son Nash (Betty) New of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, daughter, Bonnie (Rob) Dismang of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and son, Neil (Carrie) New of Springfield, Illinois; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Wayne of Oklahoma and one sister, Fern Senters of Fairfield, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three infant children, grandson Jeremy New, two brothers, and two sisters.

Funeral services for Kenneth New will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 29 at Nale’s Funeral Home in Fairfield. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery with military rites provided by Anthony Wayne Post 176 American Legion and Wayne Memorial Post 4535 VFW. Memorial contributions can be made to the Clay County Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
