Laura L. Veatch – Wayne City

79-year-old Laura L. Veatch of Wayne City, died at 4:45 a.m. on Friday, June 28 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was a homemaker. She was born on September 8, 1939 to Bernard Boyer and Freda (Allen) Boyer. She married Donald Veatch and he passed away on Sept 9, 2008. She watched Cardinals baseball, loved woodworking crafts, and owned and operated, “Say It With Wood” along with her husband in McLeansboro. She was Baptist by faith.

Survivors include her son, Kevin Veatch of Wayne City; daughter: Sonya Davis of Henderson, Kentucky; four grandchildren: Amber Miller of Wayne City, Sara (husband Bret) Luffman of McLeansboro; Matthew (wife Lindy) Veatch of Ewing, Alexis Hamilton of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; four great-grandchildren: Ashton Hess, Landen Catron, Callie Jo Catron and Kyson Veatch; a brother: L.B. (wife Terry) Boyer of McLeansboro; two sisters: Marilyn (husband Clarence) Sancrant of Phoenix, Arizona and Sue (husband Hubert) Ballard of McLeansboro. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, July 1 at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro, with burial to be conducted at I.O.O.F. Veterans Cemetery with Reverend Alan Monroe officiating. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Monday, July 1 at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
