Danny Paul Lakin – Union, Missouri

63-year-old Danny Paul Lakin of Union, Missouri, formerly of McLeansboro, died on Wednesday, July 17 at 4:10 p.m. at Sunset Health Care Center in Union, Missouri. Danny was born on April 29, 1956 in McLeansboro to Jimmy Lakin and Katherine (Donelson) Lakin. He was a laborer in the agriculture industry, and served in the U.S. Air Force as a jet engine mechanic. He was a member of the First General Baptist Church in McLeansboro. Danny loved to fish, loved all sports, especially volleyball, loved music and playing pool.

Survivors include his mother: Katherine Lakin of McLeansboro; two sons: Travis Lakin of McLeansboro and Troy Lakin and his wife Amy of McLeansboro; two brothers: Tracy Lakin and wife Cheri of McLeansboro and Bryan Lakin and wife Karen of Navarre, Florida; four grandchildren: Gabriel, Evalynn, Katy, and Mason Lakin. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his father: Jimmy Lakin.

Funeral services for Danny Paul Lakin will take place on Monday, July 22 at 1 p.m. at the Harre Funeral Home. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in McLeansboro and graveside military rites will be provided by the American Legion Post #106 of McLeansboro and the Scott Air Force Base Honor Team. Reverend Robert Sefried will officate the service. Visitatation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, July 22 at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro is in charge of all the arrangements.
