Dorothy Mae Gill, 91, of Grayville, Illinois, died Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at Meadowood Nursing Home in Grayville. She was born May 16, 1928, in Mt. Erie, Illinois, the daughter of Lee and Ethel (Orr) Hohlbaugh. She married Lloyd Gill in Ellery, Illinois, on June 4, 1944, and he preceded her in death on December 28, 1999.
Dorothy was a member of the First Christian Church in Grayville. She was a nurse and worked for many years at the Carmi Skilled Care in Carmi, Illinois, and Meadowood Nursing Home in Grayville. In her leisure time, she enjoyed knitting.
Survivors include son Michael (Linda) Gill of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; daughter Karen (Kelly) Beaven of Sellersburg, Indiana; brother Kenneth (Barbara) Hohlbaugh of Mt. Erie; grandchildren Brian (Angela) Gill, David (Kathy) Gill, Anita Libby, Kendall (Bronson) Zell and Karly Buckner and her fiancé, J.B. Hickman; numerous great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother Dennis; sister Eleanor; grandchildren Linann Gill and Dana Suzanne Gill.
Visitation and graveside funeral are August 30, 2019. Visitation is 1-2 pm at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville. Graveside service is at 2 pm at Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville.
Memorials may be made to First Christian Church of Grayville, Illinois, and will be accepted at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville.
