75-year-old McLeansboro resident Patrick Martin Tharp, formerly of Sarasota, FL, died at 1:45 a.m. on Monday at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He worked as a mortgage broker, was a member of the American Legion, and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He was born on June 11, 1944, in Macomb to Leslie S. and Elenor (Martin) Tharp. He married Karen Sue Swartz on May 4, 1985, in Sarasota.
Patrick Tharp is survived by his wife, Karen Tharp. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Per Patrick Tharp’s wishes, his body will be cremated and his ashes will be spread at his favorite places. A Celebration of Life will take place in Florida at a later date.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charity and may be given to the family or to the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro, which is in charge of arrangements.
