82-year-old Fairfield resident Ford Gubbins passed away late Tuesday evening, January 28, 2020 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital.
Ford was born September 25, 1937 in Albion. He was the son of Ernest and Maud (Ellen) Gubbins McDuffee. He married Janice Wood on March 1, 1958 in Fairfield and she survives. Ford worked many years in construction for Morton Buildings out of Morton, Illinois and after retirement he drove the school bus for Fairfield Grade School District 112.
Ford is survived by his wife, Janice; two sons, Brad (Rita) Gubbins of Fairfield, and Bruce (Rachel) Gubbins of Charleston and one daughter, Gayle McGehee of Fairfield; One sister, Helen Curtis of Albion and four grandchildren, Ryan and wife J’ne McGehee, Sara McGehee, Sam and Max Gubbins, along with nieces and nephews. Ford was preceded in death by his parents, an infant granddaughter, Sophie Gubbins, son-in-law, Steve McGehee and a brother, Richard Gubbins.
Funeral services for Ford Gubbins will be held Saturday, February 1st, 2020 at 11:00am at Nale’s Funeral Home in Fairfield. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:00am until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Cancer Support Group and will be accepted at the funeral home.
