Vickie (Dickirson) Thomason – McLeansboro

71-year-old Vickie (Dickirson) Thomason of McLeansboro, died at 7:09 p.m. Wednesday, April 22 at her home. She was a restaurant owner. Vickie worked, helped manage and own Dickirson’s Drive In along with her parents. This business was an icon in McLeansboro and stands out in memories of many teens and customers throughout the years. Vickie loved genealogy and published several books on the subject. She enjoyed collecting glassware and coins. Vickie was “The Weather Gal” on Facebook. She was a Christian by faith.

Vickie was born on April 16, 1949 in Salem, Illinois to Dale Dickirson and Flossie (Walters) Dickirson “Sally”. She married Darnell Thomason on July 17, 1970 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. He passed away on November 10, 2013.

Survivors include a daughter: Sally Walker of McLeansboro; grandchildren: Sierra Barker and Slade Walker of McLeansboro; several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents Dale and Sally Dickirson, husband Darnell, and sister Linda Feuquay.

A private family burial of ashes and service will take place at a later date. Memorials can be made to Breast Cancer Awareness and will be accepted at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
