Molly D. (Garrett) Hollett

86-year-old Molly D. (Garrett) Hollett passed away peacefully at 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at the Deaconess Hospital Linda White Hospice Center in Evansville. Molly was born on February 15, 1934 in Fairfield to Glen (Speed) and Rosalee Garrett. After her father’s death, her mother married Albert Winter of Springerton who was a loving step-father to her.

A person of great faith, Molly lived out a Christian life full of caring compassion for others. Her sincere desire to be the light of Jesus impacted all areas of her life. She worked for 25 years at the Fairfield Medical Center before her retirement where her kind and generous spirit touched many. In 2001, she moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she lived for 14 years before returning to Fairfield to live at Brookstone Estates. While in Kansas City, Molly was active in the local Vesper Hall where she sang in the choir and led a holiday ministry at local nursing homes.

Molly married Marion D. Hollett on June 24, 1950. He preceded her in death on November 11, 1999. They raised three sons: Mike Hollett of Morrisville, North Carolina; Dave (Renee’) Hollett of Bradenton, Florida; and Doug Hollett who passed away in 1979.

In addition to her two sons, Mike and Dave, Molly is survived by four grandchildren: Jason (Jessica) Hollett of Wilmington, North Carolina; Dr. Brock (Staci) Hollett of Bradenton, Florida; Stephanie (Courtright) Moore of Berea, Kentucky; and Angela Hollett of West Palm Beach, Florida. Molly had eight great-grandchildren: Brooklyn, Palmer, & Dylan Hollett; Mia Knefelcamp; Isaac, Molly Kendall, & Carson Moore; and Sophia Hollett. Her sister, Janice Bass, also survives along with several nieces and nephews.

Molly was preceded in death by her husband, Marion; her son, Doug; her brother, Bill Garrett, and 3 sisters, Carolyn Briley, LaDonna Garrett, and Roszella Griswold.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Molly’s body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Molly’s honor may be made to Fairfield Park District for a bench in her memory.
