Frank H. Baker – Fairfield

83-year-old Frank H. Baker of Fairfield, died at 5:38am on Thursday, September 3 at his home. He had been a foreman for the bridge gang on the Norfolk Southern Railways for over 30 years. He was also a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean conflict.

Frank was born on October 6, 1936, in Fairfield, to Frank and Nora (Taylor) Baker. He was married for 50 years to Kay E. Baker, who preceded him in death in 2010.

Survivors include his loyal, beloved canine companion Sally, three daughters Sheila (Jeff) Loyd of Ellery, Sharon (Bill) Young and Susan Shelton both of Fairfield, nine grandchildren Amanda Shelton, William Shelton, Brad (Justn) Young, Bryan (Katie) Young, Brady (Andrea) Young, Bruce (Jennifer) Young, Tristan (Olivia) Hutchcraft, Michael Loyd, and Landon Loyd, nine great grandchildren, one sister Betty Sampson of Catlin, IL, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Kay, two sisters Rose Marie Barton, and Rena Sarks, and one brother Jack Baker.

Funeral services for Frank Baker will be at 1pm on Tuesday, September 8th at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield, with a public visitation from 11am until the time of service. Please follow social distancing and mask guidelines. Frank’s body will be cremated following the service with burial at 11am on Tuesday, September 15th, in Maple Hill Cemetery with full military rites provided by Anthony Wayne Post #176 American Legion and the Wayne County Post #4535 VFW. Memorial donations can be made to the Wayne County Humane Society and will be accepted at the Johnson and  Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
