Carolyn Sue Grimes – Fairfield

76-year-old Fairfield resident Carolyn Sue Grimes, died Tuesday evening, September 9 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital.

Sue was born November 8, 1943 in Wabash County, Illinois.  She was the daughter of Elvis “Spud” and Wanda Lucille (Sanders) Cropper.  Sue was first married to Donald Eugene Grimes Sr. in Wayne County, Illinois. He preceded her in death on January 16, 1966 in Creve Coeur, Missouri. In 1967 Sue married Edward Olivier in Wayne County. Sue married Larry E. Williams in 1971. Sue enjoyed working in her yard and tending to her flowers. She enjoyed playing in the weekly Senior Pool Tournament. Sue loved to read and dance. Sue attended Grace Chapel. She had retired from the Fairfield Garment Factory.

Sue is survived by five sons, Donald Eugene (Cynthia) Grimes of Fairfield, Billy Ray (Rachele) Grimes of Paducah, Kentucky, Bobby Alan (Marcie) Grimes of Fairfield, David Lee (Kristi) Grimes of Clay City, and Thomas Robert (Fellicity) Olivier of Fairfield. 8 grandchildren, 14 step grandchildren, several great grandchildren and step great grandchildren. One brother, Dennis Ray (Doris) Cropper of Fairfield, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald Eugene Grimes Sr. and two brothers, Geoffrey Allen and Stephen Lee. 

A Celebration of Life Service for Carolyn Sue Grimes will be held on the lawn of Grace Chapel Church in Fairfield at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 10. Condolences may be left for the family at www.nalesfuneralhome.com. Nale’s Funeral Home of Fairfield is assisting the family.
