Norbert Lee “Butch” Ziems – Bluford

Norbert Lee “Butch” Ziems, 74, a resident of Bluford, IL passed away Thursday, November 5, 2020 at his home.

He was born on November 11, 1945 in Chicago Heights, IL to his parents Norbert and Elsie who preceded him in death.

Butch was a 20 year veteran of the U.S. Army, and later worked as a truck driver, a farmer, and at the Wayne City Tire and Service Center.  He was a member of the Mt. Vernon Sportsman’s Club, and he enjoyed competition shooting, fishing, hunting, and riding horses.

He is survived by a wife Sandra Ziems of Broughton, IL; 3 daughters: Lisa Linke of Duncan, OK; Teresa Ziems of Duncan, OK; and Stephania (Ronald) Swan of Pawhuska, OK; a son Scott Ziems of Phillipsburg, NJ, 8 grandchildren: Vince, Dylan, Tiffania, Kayla, Clayton, Adriana, Kadin, and Leela, 2 great grandchildren, 2 sisters: Darlene (Mike) Gragus of AZ, and Sharon (John) Smado of Chicago Heights, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Dale Ziems.

Funeral Services for Norbert Lee “Butch” Ziems will be held at 6 pm on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City, IL with Brian Fuller officiating.  Visitation will be held Saturday from 2 pm until the time of service at 6 pm.  In honor of Butch’s wishes, he will be laid to rest at the Mound City National Veterans Cemetery in Mound City, IL on Monday, November 16, 2020.  A procession will leave Young Funeral Home in Wayne City at 11 am on Monday, November 16, and graveside military rites will begin at 1 pm at the Mound City National Veterans Cemetery.
