Thomas (Tom) Tubbs – Geff

Thomas (Tom) Tubbs, 84 of Geff, Illinois passed away December 14, 2020 at Cisne Rehabilitation & Health Center.

Tom was born November 25, 1936 to Fred and Laura (Spaulding) Tubbs in Geff, Illinois. He married Bernetta Kiger on July 18, 1956 and she survives.

Tom was a self-employed farmer, also in his earlier life he was a plumber and electrician. Tom was a Charter Member of the Lamard Township Fire Department since 1957, Tom helped with every post within the local fire department during his career in some capacity. Tom served as the Fire Chief for a total of 14 years. Later in his life Tom would hear the fire whistle blow and he knew that someone needed to man the radio that was his job. Tom had served on the fire department for a total of 63 years. Tom is the last founding member of the Lamard Township Fire Department. He will be remembered for his many years of dedication and service to his community.

Tom  is survived by his wife Bernetta Tubbs; one son Fred (Noelene) Tubbs of Wayne City, Illinois; two daughters Vickie (Randy) Doan  of  Olney, Illinois  and Becky ( Matt) Johnson of Flora, Illinois; eight grandchildren also survive Jasen and Clayten Tubbs, Allison and Josh Bunting, Stephanie (Codie) Blake and Matthew (Heather) Richards, Michaela and Natalie Doan, several Great Grandchildren also survive.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one son Rickie and one sister.

Services will be held Wednesday December 16, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Bestow Cemetery in Geff, Illinois.  Friends and family are asked go directly to the cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Cisne Rehab and Health Care or to the Geff Rurtains. Memorials may be dropped off at the funeral home Hosselton-Meridith 305 Park Street or mailed to PO Box 190 Cisne, Illinois 62823. Memorial will also be accepted at the graveside the day of the services.
