Eunice I. McCarty, 82, of Bone Gap, Illinois, died Sunday, December 27, 2020, at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. She was born April 26, 1938, in Gibson County, Illinois, the daughter of John Logan Horton, Sr. and Blanche Abigail (Racine) Horton. She was married to Warren Dale McCarty, Sr. on June 20, 1956, and he preceded her in death in 1992.
Eunice was a laborer at Spartan Manufacturing in Grayville, Illinois, for 25 years until the time of its closing in 1998. She then retired from Champion Laboratories in 2009. She loved attending Sunday services at the Bone Gap Christian Church with her daughter Crissy and loved working outdoors, especially mowing and gardening. She was an avid St. Louis Baseball and Indiana University Basketball fan.
Survivors include son Warren “Dale” (Debbie) McCarty, Jr. of Somonauk, Illinois; daughters Peggy Griffith of Newburgh, Indiana, Cristine “Crissy” Thomas of Bone Gap; brother Donnie (Arlene) Horton of Evansville, Indiana; sister Mary Helen (John) Rahmoeller of Grayville, Illinois; grandchildren Eric, Jennifer, Jamie, Steven, Stan, Robby, Ramanda, Nikki; step granddaughter Talisa; great grandchildren Natalie, Ellie, Olivia, Knox, Ethan, Taylor, Faden, Ainsley, Aaliyah, Vance, Luna, Krish, Shelby, and Liam; step great grandchildren Megan and Kyle.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers Kenneth Horton and John Logan Horton, Jr.; sister Joyce Linder; son-in-law Jim Griffith, Jr.
A Private family service will be at a later date at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville, Illinois. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville.
