Marie Cox – McLeansboro

97-year-old Marie Cox, a resident of McLeansboro, died Friday, January 8 at the Hamilton Memorial Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

She was born November 2, 1923 in Hamilton County, IL to Charles and Eva (Merrill) Edmonds.  Marie married Rev. George Cox on May 11, 1945 and he preceded her in death.  Marie was a home maker and a devoted member of the Dale Pentecost Church.
Marie is survived by four sons: Gary and wife Joyce Cox of Glendale, AZ, Keith and wife Diann Cox of McLeansboro, Kent and wife Faye Cox of Mesa, AZ and Rev. Rick and wife Virginia Cox of Cottonwood, AZ; one daughter Beverly and husband Kenneth Neal of McLeansboro; nine grandchildren: Julie Lafon, Josh Cox, J.R. Neal, Brian Neal, Pam Cox, Lynda Newman, Aaron Cox, Andy Cox and Angela Cox; and siblings George Edmonds and Georgetta Webb, both of McLeansboro.  Sixteen great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, several step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters: Sybil and Nell; and three brothers: Lanzel, Allen and J.R. Edmonds.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Ten Mile Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Cox and Pastor Jacob Gray officiating.  Visitation will be Wednesday, January 13, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. at the church.  She will be laid to rest at Digby Hill Cemetery near Dale.
