Amanda “Mindy” Horn – Fairfield

77-year-old Amanda “Mindy” Horn of Fairfield, died at 11:45pm on Wednesday, January 27 at her residence. She had worked as a rural mail carrier and assistant to the postmaster at the United States Post Office in St. Charles, IL for 24 years.

Amanda was born on December 14, 1943, in Fairfield, to Delbert and Esther (Canfield) Venters.  On July 6, 1963, she married Gerald Horn.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years Gerald Horn of Fairfield, one son Jerry Horn of Fairfield, two daughters Sheri Horn of Fairfield, and Dawn Parish of Selena, Kansas, eight grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, two brothers Albert Hilliard of Paragould, AR, and James (Linda) Venters of Odin, IL, one sister Martha Grove of Sandwich, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Delbert Venters, and two sisters Sue Corrigan, and Mary Milton.

A public funeral service for Amanda Horn will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, February 2nd at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home, with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery, both in Fairfield. Visitation will be from 12pm until the time of service at the funeral home. Those attending are asked to follow state guidelines for wearing masks and social distancing.
