Alma Mae Smith, 92, of Fairfield, Illinois, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Mt. Vernon Health Care in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
Alma was born December 21, 1928 to Ernest and Luna (Brown) Berg at De Valls Bluff, Arkansas. She married Carl Elliott and he preceded her in death.
Alma was a retired Dietician at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. where she worked for sixty-one years. She enjoyed Bible reading, baking, and cooking fried chicken on Sunday.
Alma is survived by five grandchildren Lyna Benson and Jackie Kroeschen both of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Carl Elliott of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Chad Weedman of Carbondale, Illinois, and Jennifer Weedman of Fairfield, Illinois, and one daughter-in-law Stephanie Young-Elliott of Fairfield, Illinois.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Carl, daughter Brenda Weedman, two sons Gary Elliott and Michael Elliott; four brothers John Berg, Raymond Berg, Wilbur Berg, and Walter Berg; four sisters Ovella “Dot” Berg, Wanda Murphy, Cora “Pat” Wilson, and Lena Brackenbush.
Per her wishes, cremation rites were accorded. There will be no services.
