Geraldine Ann Mathis – Albion

80-year-old Albion resident, formerly of Windsor, IL, Geraldine Ann Mathis, passed away at 1:40 a.m. Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Aperion Care in Fairfield, IL.

She was born July 9, 1940 in Shelbyville, the daughter of Cyril “Ebe” and Vera Mae (White) Adams.  She worked for nearly 18 years as a CNA, with most of that time spent nurturing the residents at Mason Point in Sullivan.  She also worked at Brown Shoe Factory in Sullivan.  Geraldine enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and the Fighting Illini Basketball.  She treasured time with family and following all their sporting events.  She was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.

Geraldine is survived by her sons: Richard (Peggy) Mathis of West Salem, Roger (Linda) Mathis of Yates Center, KS, Randy (Nancy) Mathis of Crawfordsville, IN and Russell (Claire) Mathis of Troy, MO; 16 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and brother, Bobbie (Kay) Adams of Strasburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 2021 at Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor.  The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 8, 2021 at Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Dolan officiating.  Burial will take place in Mt. Zion Cemetery in rural Shelbyville.  Memorials may be made in Geraldine’s name to the donor’s favorite charity and mailed to Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home, c/o Geraldine Mathis, 207 N. Oak, Windsor, IL.
