Maxine Mears – Carmi

95-year-old Maxine Mears of Carmi, died at 6:18 p.m., Monday, May 10 at Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, IN.  She was born in White County, IL on April 27, 1926 the daughter of Dan and Lillie (Sutton) Wilson.  Maxine married Dallas Mears  and he preceded her in death on November 11, 1980. She attended Trinity Assembly of God Church and had worked as an LPN at Hamilton Memorial Hospital. Maxine enjoyed gardening and watching the Dallas Cowboys, but her greatest joy was watching her sons and grandchildren play sports.

Maxine is survived by two sons, Bill (Sandy) Mears of Evansville, IN and Tom Mears of Carmi; a sister, Joyce Vehrs of Phoenix, AZ; three grandchildren, Kim (Brian) Coy, Dr. Jonathon (Laura) Mears and Dr. David (Julie) Mears; and six great-grandchildren, William (Hannah) Coy, Dale Coy, Ethan Mears, Claire Mears, Katy Mears and Haley Mears.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, Hobart Wilson and a sister, Marguerite Satterfield.

Funeral services for 95-year-old Maxine Mears of Carmi, will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 14 at Stendeback Funeral Home in Carmi.  Burial will be in North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi.  Visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at Stendeback Funeral Home in Carmi.  Memorial Contributions may be made in Maxine’s memory to Wabash Christian Village and will be accepted at Stendeback Funeral Home. In accordance with CDC recommendations social distancing will be observed and face masks are encouraged.
