89-year-old Sue (Taylor) Brockett of Carmi, died on Wednesday, May 19. She was born on February 6, 1932, the daughter of Benjamin and Johnnie (Cook) Taylor. She married Robert L. “Bob” Brockett on August 7, 1950, and he preceded her in death on January 26, 2005. Together, they owned and operated Brockett Water Hauling. Sue was a member at Kingdom Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Joseph (Nancy) Serafini of Freeport, IL., Robert Earl (Kay) Brockett of Carmi, William R. (Betty) Brockett of Pontiac, IL., Jannie Powell of Carmi, and David P. (Vickie Flowers) Brockett of Carmi; 16 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Pat, Mike, Pete, Wylie and Aubrey Taylor; two sisters, Agnes and Verna Pearl ; and a son-in-law Arthur Powell.
A private service for Sue Brockett will be held. Contributions can be made in Sue’s memory to the Pet’s At Risk Dog Park and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi who is in charge of arrangements.
