Michael Eugene Simmons, 56, of Carmi, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Carmi Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. He was born in Houston Texas, on October 22, 1964, the son of David and Bessie (Page) Simmons. Michael married Lori Martin on February 14, 2013. He worked as a farmer in the watermelon patches. Michael enjoyed camping, fishing and tinkering on lawn mowers and small engines. He loved spending time with his grandchildren
He is survived by his wife of 9 years, Lori Simmons of Carmi, IL.; his children, David Simmons of Carmi, IL., Elizabeth (Mike) Burch of Fairfield, IL.; two step-children, Clarissa Howell of CO. and Robert Howell III of KS.; his grandchildren, Makayla, Hunter and Liam; his siblings, Sandra Mick of Crossville, IL., Cheryl Stanley of Waverly, TN., Scott (Teresa) Howard of Carmi, IL. and Richard “Pee Wee” Simmons of Carmi, IL. and several nieces and nephews. Michael is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Tina Ridings; and a brother, David Simmons.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Michael Eugene Simmons at a later date. Stendeback Funeral Home in Carmi is in charge of arrangements.
