Wilma J. McMeen, 82, of Fairfield, died at 1:05pm on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi, IL. She had an Associates in Science in Human Resources and also Early Childhood Education. She had worked for WADI Headstart.
Wilma was born on January 23, 1939, in Wayne County, IL, to Robert H. and Claribel (Wilson) Smith. On January 14, 1958, she married James McMeen and was married for 36 years before he preceded her in death in November, 1994.
Survivors include two sons Doug McMeen of Vinita, OK, and Charles (Ruth) McMeen of Fairfield, two daughters Shelia McMeen and Marjeana (Duane) Parrent both of Fairfield, nine grandchildren Jason Scott, Clinton (Casey) Scott, Kurt (Jessie) Parrent, Blake Parrent, Morgan (Zac) Talbert, Hannah McMeen, Kelli (John) Locey, Mark (Emily) Shreve, and Zane (Bailey Owens) McMeen, 10 great grandchildren, one sister Ellen (Theron) Wolfe of Fairfield, along with nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, and one brother Harold Smith.
Funeral services for Wilma McMeen will be at 1pm on Tuesday, August 10th, at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield, with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11am until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made to the Wayne County Humane Society or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
