Doyle Eugene Prince – Carmi

80-year-old Doyle Eugene Prince of Carmi, died on Thursday, August 12.  He was born on April 13, 1941, the son of  Harold and Bertha (Williams) Prince.  Doyle married Janice Faulkner on October 5, 1963, and she preceded him in death on December 25, 2016.  He worked as a Boilermaker and then later went on to work for City of Carmi at the Water and Sewer plant.  He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp from 1959 to 1963. Doyle was a member of Stonefort General Baptist Church  He coached Babe Ruth baseball for 12 years. He also ran the chain gang at Carmi football games for many years. Doyle enjoyed watching westerns and spending time with friends and having coffee at the Coffee Shop.

Doyle is survived by his son Greg (Ellen) Prince of Carrier Mills, IL.; Grandchildren, Katelyn Prince of Carrier Mills, Alexa Prince of Shawneetown, IL. and Bryce Prince of Carmi; a great-grandchild, Charlotte Mason of Shawneetown, IL.; siblings Bill Prince of Rock Island, IL., Ed Prince of Fairfield and Marge Britton of Carmi, as well as a daughter-in-law, Leslie Prince of Carmi. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Prince; his parents; a son, Scott Prince; and siblings, James and Mike Prince, Verna Griese, Patsy Sisco, and Carol Kay Prince.

Funeral services for Doyle Eugene Prince will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, August 16 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will be at North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi,  with full Military Honors by the  Carmi VFW and American Legion. Family and friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at Campbell Funeral Home. Contributions can be made in Doyle’s memory to Camp Oxford Building Fund c/o Stonefort General Baptist Church, and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, who is in charge of arrangements.
