89-year-old Dorothy A. Woods of Ellery, died on Tuesday, November 23, at Meadow Brook Nursing Home in Grayville.
She was born April 29, 1932, to Virgil and Rella (Judd) Parks in Golden Gate. On July 7, 1951, she married Donald Woods in Allendale.
Dorothy was a member of Little Prairie Christian Church in Albion where she taught Sunday School for 40 years. She was a very outgoing, positive person. Dorothy and her husband showed sheep for many years and started the Country Companies Office in Albion in 1977 and she was one of the first female agents in southeastern Illinois. She was a seamstress, homemaker, dedicated mother, and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Rella Parks; husband, Donald Woods; brother, Jr.; great-grandchild Keaton Mewes.
Dorothy is survived by children, David Lee Woods, Ellery, Dale Lynn (Susan) Woods, Ellery, Danita (Dennis) Mewes, West Salem; grandchildren; Courtney (Brian) Cashman, Chase (Misti) Mewes, Alex (Sherry) Mewes, Jason (Lauren Moore) Woods, Michele (Trevor) Ward; eight great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 27 at 11 a.m. at Little Prairie Cemetery in Albion. Interment will be at Little Prairie Cemetery in Albion.
Memorials may be made to the Edwards County Senior Citizens or Little Prairie Cemetery.
