Charles E. Talbert, 93, of Fairfield, died at 9:00pm on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Cisne Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Cisne, IL. He had been Chief of the Auxillary Police in Fairfield for over 30 years. He had also worked at Kincaids, was a TV repairman, worked as a carpenter, and was a good handyman.
Charles was born on September 16, 1928, in Fairfield, IL, to Kenneth Talbert and Roberta (Hammil) Cherry. He married Helen (Thomason) Talbert on April 26, 1954.
Survivors include his wife Helen Talbert of Fairfield, one son Steve (Gwen) Talbert of Centrailia, IL, one daughter LaDonna (Jessie) Isle of Fairfield, eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren, one brother Gene (Sarah) Talbert of Evansville, IN, two sisters Sharon (Jim) Thomason of Fairfield, and Judy (Dallas) Bundy of Centrailia, IL, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Larry Talbert, Sr., two daughters Thelma Talbert and Velma Talbert, and one grandson Charlie Lowe.
Funeral services for Charles Talbert will be at 1pm on Thursday, December 9th at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11am until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospital and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
