Silas Wayne Fulkerson Sr, 82, of Barnhill passed away at 4:31AM on Thursday January 27th, 2022, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. He served in the Navy from 1958-1962 and was on the USS Saratoga. Silas was a truck driver, farmer, and sold real estate. He was born in Norris City on October 20, 1939, to Silas and Helen (Rister) Fulkerson.
Silas is survived by sons- Lee Thomason (who was his caregiver) of Barnhill and Silas Wayne Fulkerson Jr. of Fairfield; daughter- Sheila Brock of Barnhill; four grandchildren- Whitney Thomason of Albion, Ryan Thomason of Fairfield, Brandon Fulkerson of Fairfield and Jeremy (Patricia) Brock of Lawton, OK; sisters- Janice Eckleberry and Patti Zimmer both of Fairfield; several cousins, nieces, and nephews; special friend- Donna Savage of Fairfield also survives.
Silas was preceded in death by his parents, wife- Charlott Fulkerson, sister- Phyliss Rupp, and brother- Dennis Fulkerson.
Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Tuesday February 1, 2022, at Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery with military rites provided by Anthony Wayne Post #176 American Legion and the Wayne County Post #4535 VFW. Visitation will be from 11AM until the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of the arrangements.
