Ronald Keith Thomas – McLeansboro

Ronald Keith Thomas, 83 of McLeansboro, passed away at 3:49 p.m. on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Ron was born on June 21, 1938 in McLeansboro to Paul Greer and Frances Marie (Mayberry) Thomas. He married Judith Aileen Myers on March 11, 1959 at Blooming Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Ron was a retired carpenter, taught Building Trades at McLeansboro Township High School, and had been overseer of the John Stelle Governor Mansion for several years. In his free time, he enjoyed restoring classic cars and watching Westerns. Ron was a member of Blooming Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Judy Thomas of McLeansboro; daughters, Janet Brown and husband David of Gainesville, TX and Pat Shoultz and husband Steve of Washington, MO; daughter-in-law, Brenda Thomas of McLeansboro; five grandchildren, Jessica Varner and husband Jeremy of McLeansboro, Lauren Wilson and husband Matthieu of Easley, SC, Bryan Thomas and wife Courtney of Mulkeytown, IL; Kyle Shoultz of Evansville, IN; and Natalie Kuhn and husband Josh of Hermann, MO; ten great-grandchildren Brylee, Brooks, and Brennan Varner, Isla, Blaire, and Lively Wilson, Tripp and Teagan Thomas, and Walker and Bennett Kuhn; two brothers-in-law, Larry Myers and wife Ruth of McLeansboro and David Myers and wife Dinah of Lee’s Summit, MO; several nieces and nephews; and an aunt, Sue Goin of Evansville, IN.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Marie Thomas; son, Timothy Keith Thomas; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Allie and Imogene (Rawls) Myers; and brother-in-law, Randall “Dean” Myers.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 Noon on Monday, February 14, 2022 at Blooming Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 7709 Blooming Grove Road, McLeansboro, IL 62859. Graveside services will immediately follow at Blooming Grove Cemetery officiated by Pastor Steve Shoultz.  The  Church will open at 10:00  a.m.
