Gilbert T. Hallam, 63, of Mt. Erie, IL, died at 9:30am on Sunday, February 20, 2022, at his home. He had worked as a carpenter for the former Square Post Buildings in Fairfield.
Gilbert was born on September 3, 1958, in Fairfield, IL, to Harvey and Dorothy (McKay) Hallam.
Survivors include his long-time girlfriend Denise Spaulding of Mt. Erie, two sons Casey Hallam of Alabama and David Hallam of Kentucky, some grandchildren, three brothers David (Evonne) Hallam of Fairfield, John (Jane) Hallam of Milwaukee, WI, and Carroll (Karis) Hallam of Fairfield, three sisters Peggy Harris and LaVon (Ronald) Walker both of Mt. Erie, and Grace (Rockey) Merritt of Fairfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers Gene Hallam, Harvey Lee Hallam, Ralph Hallam, and Allen Hallam, and one sister Iva Fechter.
Per the family’s request, Gilbert’s body has been cremated with a private burial in Union Cemetery at a later date. The Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Condolences can be made to the family at www.facebook.com/johnsonvaughnfuneralhome.
