Harold Eugene Fryman – Evansville, Indiana

Harold Eugene Fryman, age 74, of Evansville, Indiana, formerly of West Salem, Illinois passed away at 2:57 AM on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana.

Harold was born on December 4, 1947, in West Salem, Illinois, the son of Ernest and Alice (Lawrence) Fryman. He was a loving father to his children, Micah Fryman of Deer Creek, IL, Johanna (Brian) Sloss of Plover, WI, and Lucas Fryman (fiancé, Crystal Linkous) of Evansville, IN. He was a wonderful grandfather to all his grandchildren: Isaac (Chloe) Rawls, Isabel Fryman, Augustus Fryman, Johan Sloss, and Nikolaus Sloss. He is survived by all his children and grandchildren but was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Harold lived most of his life in the Edwards County and Richland County areas. He was a graduate of Edwards County High School and went on to Southern Illinois University for six months before returning home to the family farm. He was a long-time farmer in Edwards County where he owned a 600-head feed lot Harvestore System. After his love of his children and grandchildren, Harold loved raising and showing shorthorn cattle and was a member of the Illinois Shorthorn Association, Illinois Junior Shorthorn Association, the American Shorthorn Association, and the Cattlemen’s Association. Over many years he bought and sold Purebred Shorthorn and Polled Shorthorn Cattle throughout the Provinces of Canada.

Harold was a devoted Christian and member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Throughout his life he cherished his family and friends. When his children were young, Harold was an active leader of local 4-H activities and loved working with the youth. He was an excellent cook and loved preparing big holiday meals for his family and friends, with Thanksgiving being his favorite. He had a love for gardening and buffet style restaurants. Friends of his children were always welcome in his home, and there was always a place for them at the table.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, March 4, 2022, at Moravian Cemetery in West Salem, Illinois. Public visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to service time at the graveside. Family will be present to welcome loved ones and friends. Memorial donations in his honor may be given to the Illinois Shorthorn Association and sent to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, IL, 61920.
