Craig Curtis, 72 of Fairfield passed away at 2:32 PM, Monday, February 21, 2022, at Aperion Care Fairfield. Born on September 10, 1949, in Evansville, IN to Thomas Matthew and Margaret LaVaughn (Armstrong) Curtis, he was a veteran of the US Army, serving in Cambodia and Vietnam. Craig held many jobs throughout his life, including owning Ruby’s BBQ in Shawneetown and Our Place BBQ in Fairfield, and working in the orchard business. He was also a lifetime member of the American Legion and the VFW.
Craig is survived by his wife Mary Lynn (McGowan) Curtis of Fairfield, son Travis (Mary) Curtis of Fairfield, brothers Tony McGuire of Mattoon, IL, Mick (Denise) McGuire of Fairfield, and Marty (Teresa) McGuire of Fairfield, cousins Terri Rice of Shiloh, IL, Sherri Lowe of Belleville, IL, Jackie Armstrong of New Haven, IL, Lonny Armstrong of Charleston, WV, and Pat Finch of Nashville, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfathers Carl McGuire and Tom McGuire, cousin Donny Armstrong, aunt Libby Farley, and uncle Zale Armstrong.
Craig will be cremated, and memorial services will be held at a later date. Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home is handling cremation.
