Elsie M. Braddock, 77, of Johnsonville, died at 12:32pm on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN.
Elsie was born on September 12, 1944, in Belleville, IL, to Phyllis (Elledge) Allen and Arthur Jackson. She married Caroll “Will” Braddock on March 26, 1962.
Elsie was known as the most kind, sweet, loving, and generous person that you would ever meet. She worked as a cook for the Wayne City School District, and, after years of hard work, dedication, and her love of children, she retired. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, cooking, sewing, and spending time with her family and her four-legged “child” Timmy. She also loved her church, the Faith Holiness Church, in Fairfield., and loved spending time with her church family.
Survivors include her loving husband of 60 years Caroll “Will” Braddock of Johnsonville, IL, loving children Karen (Bill) Newman of Wayne City, and Cam Blevins of Eureka, MO, loving grandchildren Aaron (April) Newman of Mt. Vernon, IL, and Kyrstin Blevins of Kansas City, KS, loving great grandchildren Logan Newman and MacKenzie Newman of Mt. Vernon, IL, her brothers Rick (Debbie) Allen, and Rock (Anita) Allen, her sister-in-law Sandy Lowery, and her brothers-in-law Mike Williams and William Tolliver, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parent, her beloved step-father Oliver Allen, who helped raise her from the time she was 3 years old, five brothers Clarence Jackson, Delbert Allen, Gerard Allen, Donnie Allen, and Adrian Allen, and four sisters and their spouses Sue (Donnie) Ray, Lu (Danny) Harned, Alice Tolliver, and Wilma Burton.
Funeral services for Elsie Braddock will be at 2pm on Friday, April 1st at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield, with burial in Garrison Temple Cemetery in Bluford, IL. Visitation will be from 1pm until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial donations can be made to help with funeral expenses and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
