Cecil Leon Scott – Wayne City

Cecil Leon Scott, 86, of Wayne City, IL passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022.  Cecil was born May 15, 1936 in Hickory Hill Township near Wayne City, the son of Lewis & Verneta Scott.  On October 15, 1958 he married Linda (Webb) Scott, who survives.

Cecil was a farmer, and previously worked as an oil field pumper.  He was also a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in the motor pool as a welder and mechanic.  He was awarded the Sharpshooter Medal while serving in the U.S. Army.  Cecil was a member of the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church near Wayne City.  He enjoyed bird hunting, boating, and woodworking.  He loved spending time with his family, and especially loved spending time with his grandkids.

Cecil is survived by his wife Linda Scott, 2 daughters: Angie (Ted) Brentlinger and Patty (Ray) Belmont, 4 grandchildren: Kevin (Alex) Belmont, Meghan (Jordan) Obrecht, Mitch Belmont & Kristal, and Kristin Brentlinger & fiancé Bjørn Fjermedal, and 6 great-grandchildren: Aubrey Obrecht, James Belmont, RaeLynn, Lainey, Karter, and Kellan Belmont; a sister-in-law Norma Scott, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lewis & Verneta Scott, a brother Robert Scott, a nephew Robert O. Scott, and his wife’s parents: Alta & Lucille Webb.

Funeral services for Cecil Leon Scott will be held at 2 pm on Friday, May 20, 2022 at Bailey/Arrington Prairie General Baptist Church, just North of Wayne City with Pastor Craig Smith officiating.  Visitation will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at the church.  Interment will follow the funeral service at Bailey Cemetery.
