Harold Wayne Johnson – Fairfield

Harold Wayne Johnson, 73, of Fairfield, died at 11:44am on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at his residence. He had been a diesel mechanic, a fabricator, and an industrial welder for different companies over the years.

Harold was born on December 15, 1948, in Senath, Missouri, to Wesley and Violet (Walls) Johnson. On March 17, 1990, he married Beverly (Meeks) Johnson, who preceded him in death in August, 2018.

Harold was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and served during the Vietnam war. He was also an avid outdoorsman. He loved working in his garden, doing yard work, fishing, and helping his neighbors.

Survivors include two step-sons Jonathan Kuykendall of Fairfield, and Joseph (Lesia) Kuykendall of Bethalto, IL, one step-daughter Carrie (Clint) Wick of Fairfield, four grandchildren, two brothers Jerry (Kelly) Johnson of Sheridan, WY, and Johnnie (Kathy) Johnson of Omaha, NE, and three sisters Linda (Malcom) Kimble of Camdenton, MO, Vicki (Ardel) McKinney of Washington State, and Letha (John) Walker of Carmi, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Beverly, one sister Doris Phillips, and one brother James Johnson.

Funeral services for Harold Johnson will be at 10am on Saturday, June 18th at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery with full military rites provided by the USMC and the Anthony Wayne Post #176 American Legion and the Wayne County post #4535 VFW.  Visitation will be from 5pm-7pm on Friday, June 17th at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Wayne County Humane Society and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
