FMH Horizon Healthcare Medical Clinics to offer School and Sport Physicals at all Clinics

Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Horizon Healthcare Clinics in Fairfield, Cisne, Grayville, and Carmi will be offering school and sports physicals at no out-of-pocket expense to the public through September 1st.

Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Horizon Healthcare Clinics are located at:

–           213 NW 10th Street in Fairfield, IL

–           413 Park Street in Cisne, IL

–           319 W. Commerce Street in Grayville, IL

–           1103 W. Main Street in Carmi, IL

Call 842-4617 to schedule an appointment or for more information. Walk-ins are always welcome at all four locations! Fairfield, Cisne, and Carmi clinic locations are open Monday-Friday and accept walk-ins from 9am-4:30pm daily. Horizon Healthcare Grayville Medical Clinic is open Tuesday-Thursday from 9am-4:30pm and accepts walk-ins. You do not have to be a patient of Horizon Healthcare to take advantage of this special offer.

North Wayne – will have registration on tomorrow (August 4th) from 2-6 pm at each of their four schools.  If you have questions about registration, you can call your school office or the district office.  The numbers are Mt. There will be a Beyond the Call of Duty event held tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. in Downtown Fairfield at 305 Court St. Beyond the Call of Duty is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness of first responders lost in the line of duty and to support the families and communities of the fallen.

 

The Fairfield Swimming Pool will be closing on Tuesday, August 9th at 5 p.m.for the swimming season and will then be open the weekend of August 13-14 from 1 to 5 p.m. as the final public swimming dates. Private Pool parties will be held as previously scheduled. The Fairfield Public Pool will be holding free swim days on Friday, August 5th from 1-5 p.m., sponsored by the Fairfield Elks Club; Saturday, August 6th from 1-5 p.m., sponsored by Gordy and Diana Toombs; and Saturday, August 13th from 1-5 p.m., sponsored by the Kiwanis Club.

 

Fairfield First Baptist Church will be holding Vacation Bible School for children age 3 – 6th grade through Thursday, August 4. A light meal will be served at 5:30 p.m. with classes starting at 6:00 p.m. Family Night will be on Friday, August 5, with a program at 6:00 p.m. followed by a cookout and inflatables. New Beginnings is holding Vacation Bible School from 6 – 8 PM through Friday, August 5. Parents are invited to join at 11:30 AM on Saturday, August 6 for worship and to stay afterwards for lunch. They will also have a Water Fun Day from 1 – 3 PM. This year’s theme is “On the Case.”

 

Due to high water, the City of Olney is declaring No Wake Zones for ALL portions of East Fork, Borah, and Vernor Lakes for the next 72 hours. This No Wake is set to expire at noon on Friday, August 5th.

 

Johnsonville Community Days sponsored by the Johnsonville Ruritan Club will be held August 5th – 7th. On Friday, August 5th will feature the Truck and Tractor pull and Bingo. Saturday’s events will include the 5K, the truck, car, motorcycle, and tractor show, a mud bog, and Farm Follies. Entry fee for the truck, car, motorcycle, and tractor show is $10 and you can enter by calling Lawrence Pennington at 673-2138, Samantha Robertson at 618-919-0083 or Rick Matthews at 618-835-2681. The event wraps up on Sunday, August 7th with the Community Church service, presented by the Cisne FFA.

 

Fairfield Memorial Hospital will bring their Mobile Mammography to Horizon Healthcare Cisne Medical Clinic on Saturday, August 6th, with appointments beginning at 8:00a.m. No physician order needed for those who are over the age of 40.  It must have been at least one year since your last Mammogram.  Patients are asked to bring their insurance card, photo ID, and doctor’s contact information.  This event is for annual screening Mammograms only. Individuals can call the FMH Diagnostic Imaging Department at 847-8249 to secure an appointment with one of FMH’s skilled technologists. Walk-Ins are also welcome until 11am. The 14th annual Wayne County Antique Tractor Drive will be held on Labor Day, Monday, September 5. All tractors that are model year 1992 or earlier (30 years of age or older) are welcome to participate. The route will begin and end at Vaughan Equipment Incorporated, located at 908 South First Street (Route 45) in Fairfield. Planned tours during the drive include Junkyard Art by Tam-I-Am and Scarbrough Trucking. Check-in will begin at 8:00 a.m. with a planned departure time of 9:00 a.m. Pictures will be taken at the time of check-in (before departure). The driver meeting will begin promptly at 8:45 a.m. Recognition will be given for the most original unrestored tractor, oldest tractor, youngest driver, and the driver who traveled the furthest to be at the event. The oldest driver will be recognized with the Earl Smith Memorial Award. Registration is $20 per tractor if registered by August 15. After August 15, registration is $30. Lunch is included with the registration fee. Drivers must be at least 16 years of age and have a valid driver’s license in order to drive in this event. It is recommended that tractors be able to keep a 10 mph pace during the drive. Other requirements including an SMV sign and tow chain are listed on the registration form. There were 5.4 days suitable for field work during the week ending July 31.  Statewide, the average temperature was 72.2 degrees, 2.5 degrees below normal.  Precipitation averaged 1.43 inches, 0.59 inches above normal.  Topsoil moisture supply was rated 3% very short, 23% short, 61% adequate, and 13% surplus.  Subsoil moisture supply was rated 6% very short, 19% short, 64% adequate and 11% surplus. Corn silking reached 91%, compared to the 5-year average of 90%. Corn dough reached 31%, compared to the 5-year average of 42%.  Corn condition was rated 2% very poor, 6% poor, 18% fair, 52% good, and 22% excellent. Soybeans blooming reached 76%, compared to the 5-year average of 81%.  Soybeans setting pods reached 37%, compared to the 5-year average of 51%.  Soybean condition was rated 1% very poor, 3% poor, 28% fair, 49% good, 19% excellent.

 

The Illinois Department of Revenue announced a State Sales Tax Holiday for certain school clothing and school-related items for back-to-school expenses. The state sales tax holiday is a ten-day period during which consumers can purchase certain clothing and school-related items and pay sales tax at a reduced rate.  The state’s portion of sales tax due throughout the holiday is reduced by 5% from 6.25% to 1.25%.  Items include qualifying clothing and footwear with a retail selling price of less than $125 per item and certain school supplies used by students in the course of study.  School supplies are not subject to the $125 threshold. The sales tax holiday starts on Friday and ends on August 14th.

 

River stages as of this morning:  the Little Wabash east of Fairfield stands at 26.44 feet, above the 17 ft. flood stage. Meanwhile, the Skillet Fork at Wayne City has a reading of 7.78 feet (flood stage is 15 ft.). The Little Wabash below Clay City is at 20.98 feet (flood stage is 18 ft.). Bonpas Creek at Browns reads 16.70 feet, and the Little Wabash at Main Street in Carmi reads 27.56 feet. The Wabash River at Mt. Carmel sits at 8.99 feet.
