The boil order previously issued on August 12th for the 100 block of Wilson Street in Fairfield has been lifted, according to the city’s Facebook page.

The Ten-Mile Missionary Baptist Church in McLeansboro, IL will be hosting the Gospel Music Hymn Sing crew on Sunday evening August 14th at 6:00 p.m. This evening of music and entertainment is centered around the familiar hymns of the church. Under the direction of John and Judy Roberts, participants include many personalities from the very popular homecoming Gospel Choir musical experience. The Ten-Mile Missionary Baptist Church is located at 11725 Ten-Mile Road just west of McLeansboro, IL. Admission to the concert is free. A love offering will be received. Fairfield Memorial Hospital will be hosting a blood drive for the public on August 17th. Give blood to save lives! The blood drive will take place from 10:30am-3:30pm at Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Educational Annex Building 203 NW 10th Street. Fairfield Memorial Hospital’s Senior Life Solutions will hold the next Coffee Club from 9:30am – 10:30am on Thursday, August 18th. The Coffee Club will meet in the Fairfield Memorial Hospital Cafe and is open to anyone interested in attending. This is a great opportunity to get together with other people in the community in a social atmosphere. You do not have to be a participant in the Senior Life Solutions program to attend. On Saturday, September 24th the Wayne City Ruritans will be hosting the 2022 Cruise-In Bean Days at Wayne City School in the west parking lot. Registration will begin at 9am and the parade is to follow at 10am. Speciality awards will also be announced at noon. All vehicles are welcome with a $10 fee per vehicle. Food, music, vendors, and much more to see on September 24th at Bean Days, hosted by the Wayne City Ruritans.

On 08/12/22, at 1:44 AM, Fairfield Police responded to 112 Highland Avenue, Fairfield on a Domestic Battery complaint. The investigation resulted in Jason R Pfaff, 39 of Fairfield, being arrested for battering his wife Misty L Paff, 44 of Fairfield. He was transported to the Wayne County Jail and lodged pending a bond hearing on a charge of Domestic Battery. Misty refused medical treatment.

On 08/12/22, at 12:25 AM, Fairfield Police discovered an unresponsive male in a vehicle on the Methodist Church parking lot at 100 W Main Street, Fairfield. The investigation identified the driver as Hunter W White, 22 of Bluford, IL. After indications of possible impairment, White submitted to Field Sobriety Exercises and was determined to be under the influence. He was placed under arrest for being in physical control of a vehicle while Under the Influence (DUI) and transported to the Wayne County Jail where he provided a breath sample that indicated a Blood Alcohol of .091. He was lodged pending posting of $125 cash bond.

Two people are dead after a bizarre plane crash in Illinois on Saturday. A small single-engine plane began to have difficulties just before 12:30 in the afternoon, almost 200 miles south of Chicago. The plane hit several buildings on the way down and eventually crashed directly in front of a busy restaurant in central Illinois. A man and woman were reported dead on the scene, but miraculously no one else was injured.

The Little Wabash east of Fairfield sits at 27.1 feet, above its 17 ft. flood stage. Meanwhile, the Skillet Fork at Wayne City sits at 5.18 ft., below its 15 ft. flood stage. The Little Wabash below Clay City reads 18.65 ft., above its 18 ft. flood stage. Bonpas Creek at Browns sits at 1.85 ft. The Little Wabash at Main Street in Carmi reads 30.21ft and the Wabash River in Mt. Carmel sits at 4.93 ft.
